"My daughter Mia took lessons from Rosalie for three years starting when she was 10. Rosalie was so pleasant to work with and my shy, introverted quiet child took to her immediately. Her teaching style is one of encouragement, praise and collaboration that Mia responded very well to. Rosalie got Mia to step outside her comfort zone and do auditions for groups outside of school, and her confidence grew with her talent as a musician. Mia has learned so much from Rosalie, and we were very sad to have to say goodbye when she left Wisconsin."Teri K.
"Rosie Avery provided private lessons to my middle school aged daughter as she was learning the bassoon. Rosie was reliable, timely and had excellent communication. My daughter's skills and confidence grew through her work with Rosie and when she was asked about Rosie as an instructor, my daughter said she knew that Rosie cared about her as a person, not just a bassoon player. Through her work with Rosie doors opened for my daughter and her love of music grew."Katie Hone Wiltgen - Chief Education Office - Forte
"Rosalie's mindful, save-the-world mentality meant that she was particularly concerned with bringing music education and education equality to all students, particularly those in traditionally marginalized communities. She continues to relish the opportunity to share her musical skills and knowledge with underserved youth and truly embodies what we want to see in a citizen artist. She was an ideal ArtistYear Fellow."
